Buckle up, future engineers and tech whizzes! The big day is almost here—Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati will kick off registrations for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2026 tomorrow, August 28. Whether you're dreaming of cracking the toughest engineering exam or climbing the academic ladder, now is your chance to apply at gate2026.iitg.ac.in. Earlier, registrations were set to start on August 25 but were pushed back, giving you a breather. Don't wait too long though! The regular registration closes sharp on September 28. After that, you still have a shot till October 9 if you're willing to pay a late fee. Mark your calendars for the exam dates: February 7, 8, 14, and 15 in 2026. Then, the results will be announced on March 19, 2026, so keep your fingers crossed! Wondering if you're eligible? If you are in your third year or above of a degree program, or already graduated in Engineering, Technology, Architecture, Science, Commerce, Arts, or Humanities from a recognized institute, you can apply. Your degree must be approved by MoE, AICTE, UGC, or UPSC as equivalent to BE/BTech/BArch/BPlanning. Foreign degree holders can also take part—how cool is that? About the fees: For regular registrations, female, SC, ST, and PwD candidates pay ₹1,000 per paper, while other candidates pay ₹2,000. In the extended period, fees rise to ₹1,500 and ₹2,500 respectively. So, why pay more? Apply early!
