US President Donald Trump has once again dazzled the world with bold claims! He says he ended the India-Pakistan conflict earlier this year through trade and boldly demands a Nobel Peace Prize for "ending seven wars." According to Trump, trade talks stopped conflicts not only between India and Pakistan but also in Thailand, Cambodia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kosovo and Serbia, Israel and Iran, Egypt and Ethiopia, Rwanda and the Congo. "Just look at that," Trump said at the American Cornerstone Institute on September 20. "India, Pakistan... They have nuclear weapons. They stopped." But hold your horses! India denies any third-party intervention in the conflict. India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7 targeting terror bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir after the tragic April 22 Pahalgam attack. After four days of intense cross-border strikes, India and Pakistan reached an understanding on May 10 to end hostilities. India insists this peace was reached through direct talks between military leaders, not America's trade magic. Just before Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s national address scheduled for 5 p.m. on September 21, the Congress party fired a volley of questions. Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh slammed Trump’s repeated claims on X (formerly Twitter): "As the PM prepares to address the nation, his good friend in Washington D.C. has once again stolen his thunder and claimed — for the 42nd time — that he stopped Operation Sindoor by using increased trade with America as leverage." Ramesh doubted whether Modi would address these bold claims, the troubled India-US relations, or the concerns of lakhs of Indian professionals. Why the buzz? Trump's sudden surprise move to hike the annual H-1B visa fee to a sky-high $100,000! This one-time fee will hit new applicants, leaving skilled Indians worried. The administration clarified existing visa holders are safe, but the news has sent shock waves through the community. Apart from these spicy controversies, Modi’s address comes just before revised GST rates kick in from the night of September 21, promising price cuts on many products. Still, Congress questions if the PM will just repeat familiar GST details or tackle these burning issues affecting Indian workers and farmers. Will Modi break his silence on Trump’s headline-grabbing peace claims and the visa fee drama? The nation waits with bated breath today as the Navratri festival festival begins tonight. One thing's for sure: politics and trade relations just got hotter than ever!
