May 16, 2025

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has stated that a decision on the proposed steel plant by Baldota company would be taken after reviewing the detailed report submitted by the Koppal Deputy Commissioner. He made this announcement in a media conference at Hosapete in Vijayanagara district on May 16 when reporters drew his attention to concerns that work on the proposed plant was continuing despite the Chief Minister’s orders for cessation. Addressing criticism from Leader of Opposition Assembly R. Ashok regarding the Greater Bengaluru initiative, Siddaramaiah clarified the necessity of dividing Bengaluru into multiple municipal corporations for administrative efficiency due to the city’s large population. On the topic of the Gangavati by-election and the disqualification of MLA G. Janardhana Reddy, who was convicted in an illegal mining case, Siddaramaiah expressed confidence in the Congress winning the by-election and reiterated his stance against illegal mining activities. He also dismissed claims of assisting the BJP member in winning elections, emphasizing his opposition to their ideology throughout his political career. The Chief Minister reassured that government guarantee schemes have sufficient funds allocated in the budget and highlighted the preparations for the upcoming Sadhana Samavesha public rally to celebrate two years of Congress governance in Karnataka.
