A shocking tragedy hit the famous Pavagadh Hill temple in Gujarat's Panchmahal district on Saturday. Six people died after the cable wire of a cargo ropeway snapped, Superintendent of Police Haresh Dudhat confirmed. "Six persons died after the cable wire of a cargo ropeway snapped at the renowned Pavagadh Hill temple in Gujarat's Panchmahal district on Saturday," he said. Rescue and relief teams from police and fire brigades rushed to the site to manage the crisis. The temple rests at a height of about 800 metres. Usually, pilgrims climb around 2000 steps or take cable cars to reach the temple summit. However, the ropeway for public use had been shut since morning due to bad weather, officials noted. Pavagadh Hill stands tall from the Champaner region in three stages, with its plateau located at 1471 feet altitude. The hilltop houses a popular temple dedicated to Goddess Kali, attracting approximately 2.5 million visitors every year. It remains a loved spot, now shadowed by this unfortunate accident that left hearts heavy and rescue teams on high alert.
