The stage is set for a thrilling battle in India’s Parliament to pick the next Vice President! With the sudden exit of Jagdeep Dhankhar in July, all eyes are on this high-voltage vote happening right now. The ruling NDA has nominated CP Radhakrishnan, Maharashtra's Governor, while the INDIA opposition bloc backs B Sudershan Reddy, a respected former Supreme Court judge. Voting started this Tuesday at 10 AM and will go on till 5 PM in the Parliament House. Prime Minister Narendra Modi kicked off the balloting early, followed by big names like Rajnath Singh, Arjun Ram Meghwal, Kiren Rijiju, BJP MP Kangana Ranaut, and SP leader Ram Gopal Yadav. Who rules the roost? The NDA looks strong with around 439 MPs supporting Radhakrishnan. The YSR Congress Party is also on NDA’s side. But the INDIA bloc, joined by AAP, rallies behind Reddy. Interestingly, BJD, BRS, and Shiromani Akali Dal have chosen to abstain from voting, which BJP’s Sanjay Singh believes indirectly helps Radhakrishnan. If Reddy manages to hold the opposition’s 324 votes, he could set a record as the highest-polling losing candidate in VP election history, beating the old record of 305 votes. However, numbers suggest Radhakrishnan may not cross the 500-vote mark, unlike previous elections where Jagdeep Dhankhar and M Venkaiah Naidu secured over 500 votes. Politics is full of drama! NDA's CP Radhakrishnan, born in Tamil Nadu in 1957, started with the RSS, rose to key roles in BJP, and now brings rich political experience as Governor of Maharashtra. On the other side, B Sudershan Reddy, born in Telangana in 1946, served as Supreme Court judge and Gauhati High Court Chief Justice. His legal wisdom is his campaign’s backbone. The voting is secret, with no party whip. This means MPs can choose freely. Both sides have appointed strong polling agents—Radhakrishnan has TDP’s Ram Mohan Naidu and JD(U)’s Sanjay Kumar Jha, while Reddy has MPs like Syed Naseer Hussain and Shatabdi Roy. Leaders from all parties are making their voices heard. Union Minister Chirag Paswan boldly said, “Every election should be taken seriously. NDA is standing firm with our candidate CP Radhakrishnan ji.” Congress leader Shashi Tharoor admits, “It is an important election, but we all know what the numbers are likely to be.” What about the votes scattered? Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju urges MPs to avoid invalid votes and ensure each vote counts for Radhakrishnan. The final round starts at 6 PM, and results will be announced late evening. This election is not just a formality—it’s a saga of numbers, alliances, and political fireworks. Who will wear the crown? Will Radhakrishnan strengthen NDA's grip, or will Sudershan Reddy’s opposition surge shake the status quo? Stay tuned as history unfolds live from the heart of Indian democracy!
