Volkswagen India just dropped a bombshell! From September 22, 2025, it will pass the full benefits of the new GST 2.0 to customers, making all Volkswagen cars cheaper. This comes after India's government changed the tax rules on passenger vehicles, scrapping the extra cess and setting a flat 40% GST rate. Earlier, taxes were around 48-50%, so this cut slashes the prices significantly. Volkswagen joins many carmakers jumping on the price-cutting bandwagon, heating up the competition in the midsize and premium car market. The company confirmed that models like the Virtus, Taigun, and the mighty Tiguan R-Line will all enjoy price drops. How big are the savings? Well, the Virtus could cost buyers up to Rs 66,900 less, while the Taigun's price drops by up to Rs 68,400. But the biggest headline is the Tiguan R-Line, slashed by a whopping Rs 3,26,900! Like a cherry on top, Volkswagen is also offering extra discounts for a limited time — up to Rs 1.61 lakh on some Taigun variants and Rs 3 lakh on the Tiguan R-Line. Let’s talk power! The powerful Tiguan R-Line sports a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine delivering 190 PS and 320 Nm of torque. It comes with a smooth 7-speed DSG gearbox, sending the power to all four wheels — perfect for those who love a strong, sporty drive. The Virtus and Taigun offer two engine choices: a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine with 148 bhp and 250 Nm torque paired with either a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic or manual transmission. The other option is a smaller 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbo petrol making 115 hp and 178 Nm torque, available with a 6-speed torque converter automatic or manual gearbox. So, ready to hit the roads in a Volkswagen? With these exciting price cuts and powerful engines, the timing couldn’t be better to own a brand-new VW beauty!
