In a fiery response, NATO chief Mark Rutte slammed Moscow's "reckless behaviour" after Russian drones flew into Polish airspace on Wednesday. The incident sparked emergency talks among NATO members, who moved quickly to assess the threat. "A full assessment is ongoing. But of course, whether it was intentional or not, it is absolutely reckless, it is absolutely dangerous," Rutte told reporters. The alliance's air defenses sprang into action without delay. "NATO's air defences were activated and successfully assured the defence of NATO territory, as they are designed to do," said Rutte proudly. What a relief for the safety of all NATO countries! But Rutte didn’t stop there. He sent a sharp warning to Russian President Vladimir Putin: "To Putin, I mean, my message is clear: stop the war in Ukraine, stop the escalating war, which he is now basically mounting on innocent civilians and civilian infrastructure." The NATO chief condemned the growing attacks against ordinary people and their homes. And he made it clear that NATO is watching closely: "Stop violating allied airspace, and know that we stand ready, that we are vigilant, and that we will defend every inch of NATO territory." Such tough words signal that NATO will not tolerate any more airspace breaches or attacks. The message is loud and clear: NATO stands united and ready to protect its members at all costs.
