Drama unfolded in Havana, Florida, as four people were arrested for shooting Ethan Pritchard, a promising Florida State University freshman linebacker. The shocking incident on August 30 left Pritchard seriously hurt, with a bullet hitting the back of his head. He was rushed to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital and is now in critical but stable condition. Officials call this a painful case of mistaken identity. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement named the suspects: Jayden Bodison, Caron Miller, Germany Atkins, and an unnamed minor. Bodison, Miller, and the youth face serious charges including three counts of attempted murder and one for shooting into an occupied vehicle. Atkins was charged with a probation violation. Investigators shared that Pritchard was simply dropping off family members when the gunfire erupted. The timing couldn't be crueler. Just a day before, FSU had launched their football season with a hot win over Alabama. Though Pritchard didn't play that day, he was a bright star expected to shine on FSU's defense. The Seminoles team has not let this tragedy crush their spirit. In their next dominant game against Texas A&M-Commerce, players wore wristbands with Pritchard’s number 35, and his jersey was proudly carried out during the coin toss. Head Coach Mike Norvell gave the game ball to Ethan’s father, Earl. Norvell opened his heart, saying, “Ethan is one of my favorites. I recruited him for years and got a chance to watch him grow. When he committed to Florida State, the way that he plays the game, his passion and energy—he loves it.” As Ethan Pritchard fights to get better, Florida State’s community stands strong with him. Meanwhile, law enforcement works hard to seek justice. The football world waits in hope, rooting for a full and speedy recovery for the young linebacker.
