US Ambassador Nominee Sergio Gor Praises India as Regional Anchor, Pushes Trade & Security Boost

September 12, 2025

Sergio Gor, who is nominated to be the US Ambassador to India, called India a strong anchor of regional stability. He told everyone that the US will focus heavily on defence, trade, and security ties with India. This promise comes as a big boost in the growing friendship between the two nations. Gor fully supported former President Donald Trump’s “Mission 500,” a plan to increase trade between India and the US to $500 billion. He praised the close ties between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Donald Trump, saying their relationship built a strong foundation for future cooperation. Gor also made a bold call for India to stop importing oil from Russia, a move that shows America’s interest in seeing India align more closely with its policies. At the same time, he highlighted India’s key role in the Quad group, a powerful alliance including the US, Japan, and Australia, to counter China’s growing influence in the region. With this strong push from the US side, the India-US partnership looks ready to turn hotter and stronger on all fronts: defence, business, and diplomacy.
