Prime Minister Narendra Modi lit up Assam’s future on Sunday with the foundation stones of several mega projects in Darrang district and beyond. Kicking off with the Darrang Medical College and Hospital, along with the GNM School and B.Sc. Nursing College, Modi sharpened the state’s healthcare edge. But that’s not all! The Guwahati Ring Road Project also got its green light — a super move to untangle traffic jams and boost travel around the capital. Then came a game-changer: the Kuruwa-Narengi Bridge over the mighty Brahmaputra, a bridge that promises to link people and kickstart growth in the region. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stood proudly with PM Modi, handing him a special memento to honor Krishak Swahid Diwas, remembering a historic 1894 massacre in Darrang. Modi’s day was just warming up. In Golaghat’s Numaligarh, he switched gears to clean energy by inaugurating the Assam Bioethanol Plant at Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL). This plant will push Assam ahead in eco-friendly fuel, trimming the state’s fossil fuel hunger. Alongside this, Modi laid the foundation for the new Polypropylene Plant at NRL, a bold step to pump fresh life into Assam’s petrochemical industry, create jobs, and drive regional growth. Sharing his excitement about the day, Chief Minister Sarma called Modi’s visit a “momentous occasion” for Assam. On his social media, Sarma wrote, “Today is a momentous occasion for Assam. In a short while from now, Hon'ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji will dedicate projects worth Rs 18,530 cr. These works include new roads, bridges, a medical college and a major clean energy initiative.” This flurry of launches is part of Modi’s two-day Assam visit. Just a day before, he led a vibrant roadshow in Guwahati and paid heartfelt respects to the legendary singer and Bharat Ratna winner Bhupen Hazarika during his birth centenary celebration. With Rs 18,530 crore pouring into vital infrastructure and industrial plants, Modi’s Assam mission is roaring ahead — promising better health, smoother roads, greener energy, and a thriving economy for all Assamese hearts!
