Minister Sharanabasappa Darshanapur spoke to a happy crowd during the Kalyana Karnataka Utsav celebrations in Yadgir on Wednesday. The big news? The State Cabinet has decided to create a new Ministry just for the development works funded by the Kalyana Karnataka Region Development Board. This is what people in the region have wanted for a long time! "There has been a long-pending demand from the people of the region for setting up an exclusive Ministry for Kalyana Karnataka development. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has considered the demand and announced a Ministry for the purpose," said Darshanapur after proudly unfurling the National Flag. But that’s not all! Another major decision is about the mighty Alamatti dam. Its height will go up from 519 meters to 524 meters. This means water backwaters will cover more land—about 75,563 acres. To help those affected, the government will pay ₹40 lakh for land used for farming with irrigation, and ₹30 lakh for dry land. The Minister also reminded everyone about the region’s brave past during the freedom struggle against the Hyderabad Nizam. He said, "The Nizams surrendered themselves to the Indian Army during Operation Polo and the Hyderabad Karnataka region was liberated from the Nizams." He pointed out the need to boost Kalyana Karnataka to the same level of the older Mysuru region across all sectors. The Karnataka government is serious about this and is releasing a huge ₹5,000 crore every year to make it happen. With these fresh moves – a dedicated Ministry and big dam upgrades – Kalyana Karnataka is set to shine brighter than ever!
