Something spicy just happened in the world of India-US relations! After months of chilly vibes due to a tough 25% US tariff on India’s oil imports from Russia, the two big leaders, PM Narendra Modi and former President Donald Trump, finally made a friendly phone call. It was the first chat since their relationship hit a rough patch. Guess what? Trump called Modi to wish him a very Happy 75th Birthday! On social media platform X, Modi warmly called Trump "my friend" and thanked him for the call. Modi said, "Thank you, my friend, President Trump, for your phone call and warm greetings on my 75th birthday. Like you, I am also fully committed to taking the India-US Comprehensive and Global Partnership to new heights. We support your initiatives towards a peaceful resolution of the Ukraine conflict." Trump wasn’t shy either! He shared on Truth Social, "Just had a wonderful phone call with my friend, Prime Minister Narendra Modi. I wished him a very Happy Birthday! He is doing a tremendous job. Narendra: Thank you for your support on ending the War between Russia and Ukraine." This chat came just as the two countries started up their negotiations again for a big trade deal. Both sides happily called the talks "positive," hoping for better things ahead. However, they kept the exact details secret, with no official news released by either side late into the evening. Even Trump stayed tight-lipped on his social media. A little flashback: Their last conversation was in June when Trump invited Modi to visit Washington during his trip to Canada, but Modi politely said no. Now, with this warm birthday call and fresh trade talks, it looks like India and the US might be ready to cozy up again after facing some diplomatic chill.
