THANE: Hold on tight! Thane’s new traffic twist is here, and it’s stirring up some serious road drama. From Thursday, trucks with 10 or more tyres are banned from entering Thane city between 6am and midnight. Thane police rolled out this bold, experimental 15-day rule to ease the city's busy roads, especially the notorious Ghodbunder Road. For local city commuters, the change felt like a breeze. Intra-city travelers enjoyed smoother and faster rides with fewer massive trucks hogging the roads. But for long-distance truck drivers and many residents, chaos broke loose at entry points like Gaimukh and Kopri. Sanket Naik from Kasarvadavli shared his frustration from the Gaimukh gate, "It took me three hours to travel home from Goregaon. Trucks occupied two of three lanes," he said. Imagine sitting in a jam where gigantic trucks block most lanes, grinding the traffic to a halt! Yogesh Jani’s bus journey to Thane also turned into a long, slow crawl. The buses got tangled in the truck backups at key points, turning a simple ride into an agonizing odyssey. Citizen advocate Shraddha Rai warned, "If trucks are restricted to just six hours of movement, situation could worsen." This means if trucks get only a small window to travel, the traffic nightmare might become even bigger! Thane police’s big idea to tame noisy, massive trucks on Ghodbunder Road is a daring attempt to bring order. But as everyone grapples with jams and waits, the question remains—will this experiment calm the chaos or just shuffle it around like deck chairs on a crowded ship? Stay tuned for more updates on this heavy truck drama!
