Apple’s iPhone 17 Sales Zoom Up 19% in India, Fans Go Crazy for Pro and Pro Max!

September 21, 2025

Get ready for an iPhone fiesta! Apple’s latest iPhone 17 series is selling like hotcakes in India, with launch day sales soaring up to 20% higher than last year’s iPhone 16 debut. The stars of the show? The premium Pro and Pro Max models, which are smashing records and flying off shelves. However, the slimmer iPhone Air is facing a bit of a price hurdle, so it hasn’t been as popular. An industry expert revealed, “All units of the iPhone 17 and iPhone Air are locally made, but most of the Pro and Pro Max models are imported for now and will slowly be replaced with locally made units in the coming weeks.” This shows how Apple is blending local manufacturing and imports to meet demand. Varun Mishra, senior analyst at Counterpoint Research, said the premium models are already sold out in many stores. “Apple with its aspirational brand image is successfully riding the premiumisation trend in India,” Mishra added. The iPhone 17’s rush is 19% faster than the iPhone 16’s launch, and with the festive season in full swing, Apple hopes to boost sales by a huge 28% year-on-year. Why the craze? The festive season sees buyers snapping up older models too, thanks to big price drops. According to IDC India, Apple dominated India’s smartphone market in the first half of 2025 with shipment growth of 35%, mostly driven by the iPhone 16 series. Now, the trend continues with the iPhone 17. Queues were a sight to behold! Mumbai saw 400-500 excited buyers outside the Apple store, even sparking a small scuffle as eagerness took over. Delhi’s crowd was even bigger—around 600 people waited eagerly for the store to open at 8 am. Bengaluru and Pune started slow, but by evening, the Pro models were completely sold out. An authorized Apple reseller in Delhi shared, “We got more iPhone Air and iPhone 17 units, but customers want the Pro models. We only received 10-15 of those.” The iPhone 17 Pro models look stunning with a bigger camera bump and dazzling new colors like Cosmic Orange, which is a fan favorite. To boost sales even more, Apple offered stocks on credit to retailers for the first time and is tempting users with trade-in deals to upgrade older iPhones. Prices start from Rs 82,900 and go up to Rs 2.29 lakh, matching global launches. Young fans like 22-year-old Delhi student Priyansh Kaul enjoyed a smooth pick-up at the flagship store with no waiting. Another buyer, 19-year-old Aryam, bought his first iPhone just to enjoy some gaming without EMI plans. Smaller retailers across Delhi, Mumbai, and Karnataka also report tight stocks of the pricier Pro models. One retailer predicted that demand for these top models will stay strong for the first three months, while sales of base models will rise later in the year. Apple is expected to send more Pro models in the next week’s supply. Clearly, Apple is heating up India’s smartphone market with the iPhone 17, turning heads and filling hands with the latest tech magic. The festive season just got a lot more exciting for Apple fans!
