Big news from ITC Limited! The recent smart move by the GST Council to simplify tax rates will power up ITC’s food division like never before. Executive Director Hemant Malik spilled the beans on Saturday, revealing that ITC will cut prices across its range of nutritional products. Why? To make healthy eating easier on the pocket. "The far-sighted GST reforms provide a shot in the arm for ITC foods' overall strategy framework. This will help nutrition reach people by making the products more affordable," Malik said confidently. So, what’s cooking with GST? The Council has cut taxes to just two slabs: 5 per cent and 18 per cent. This new structure, kicking in from September 22, promises to make many products cheaper, including the goodies ITC sells. But wait, during the run-up to the official date, you might spot packages with both old and new prices on shelves. "During the transition period, products with new and old MRPs may be available in the market," Malik explained. The price cuts are not just for a few products but will span across ITC’s wide FMCG portfolio, covering tasty biscuits, rich ghee, refreshing flavoured milk, and more! This matters because ITC's FMCG business hit a massive Rs 22,000 crore in revenue just last financial year (2024-25). Malik also shared a key part of their game plan: "A key focus of the strategy framework is to develop nutrition-rich value-added products and make them affordable to consumers." With the festive season just around the corner, these changes come at a perfect time. Malik believes the best part is yet to come. "The holistic GST reforms by the government would boost consumption of key food products before the festive season," he added. In short, shoppers should get ready to enjoy healthier, affordable products from ITC, thanks to smarter taxes and clever pricing. Who says good nutrition can't come with a great price tag?
