FMCG Giants Slash Prices on Daily Essentials, Lighting Up Festival Shopping Thanks to GST Cut

September 21, 2025

Get ready for some wallet-friendly news, folks! Leading FMCG giants like Dabur, ITC, Procter & Gamble, Emami, Nestle, RCPL, Amul, and HUL have rolled out fresh price lists cutting down the cost of your daily essentials. Starting Monday, September 22, many soaps, shampoos, baby diapers, toothpaste, razors, and more will be available at lower prices. This spicy price cut comes straight after the government’s GST 2.0 update, and companies are making sure you enjoy the tax benefits right away! With the festival season knocking on the door—starting with Navratra celebrations—these price slashes are sure to boost your shopping mood. FMCG companies hope this will drive up sales after some tough quarters marked by rising food prices and slow urban spending. So what's on sale? Dabur has dropped Real Juice (1 litre) from Rs 130 to Rs 122 and its famous Chyawanprakash (900 gm) from Rs 475 to Rs 440. Toothpaste lovers get savings too, with Dabur Red and Meswak 200 gm now Rs 135 instead of Rs 153. Hajmola digestive tablets (120 count) have become cheaper at Rs 65 from Rs 70. Nestle isn’t just cutting prices; it’s giving you more! Maggi noodles now come in bigger 600 gm packs (up from 500 gm) but cost less at Rs 116 (down from Rs 120). Nescafe Classic (45 gm) is down to Rs 235, Nescafe Gold drops Rs 95 to Rs 755, and more savings await coffee lovers. ITC is playing the price drop game with Savlon (100 ml) at Rs 374 (previously Rs 400), cow ghee (1 litre) at Rs 1,010 from Rs 1,080, and Sunfeast Marie Light (956 gm) at Rs 150 (down from Rs 170). Over at PepsiCo’s distributor Varun Beverages, juice bottles are cheaper: Tropica Apple Juice (1 litre) is Rs 105 from Rs 115 and Mango Juice Slice (1.2 litre) Rs 65 from Rs 70. Bottled Aquafina water (1 litre) now costs Rs 18 instead of Rs 20. However, fizzy drinks remain priced high due to a whopping 40% GST duty. Why the big price drop? The GST 2.0 simplifies tax slabs from 4 to 2, with most daily essentials and food items now under a sweet 5% slab instead of higher rates. This cut helps companies lower prices to delight customers. Ferrero, the chocolate boss, didn’t stay behind either. Nutella (350 gm) is down by Rs 50, now Rs 399, and Ferrero Rocher (300 gm) drops Rs 100 to Rs 879. Dairy champion Amul reduces butter (100 gm) to Rs 58, ghee (1 litre) to Rs 610, paneer (200 gm) to Rs 95, and ice creams across its range get cheaper, with prices starting at just Rs 9. Reliance Consumer Products Ltd (RCPL) slashed cow ghee by Rs 50 to Rs 750 and soaps by Rs 15. Procter & Gamble is welcoming the retail party with reductions on Vicks, Head & Shoulders, Pantene, Pampers, and Gillette products. Vicks Action 500 Advance now only Rs 64 down from Rs 69. Home-grown Emami cuts prices on Boroplus Antiseptic Cream, Navratna Oil, Zandu balm, and others. HUL joins the bash, lowering prices on Dove shampoo, Horlicks, Kissan Jam, Bru Coffee, Lux, and Lifebuoy soaps—all effective from September 22. According to an industry report by FICCI, this GST 2.0 policy might cause some short-term revenue loss but will be made up by increased buying, better tax compliance, and a wider market reach over time. So get ready to stock up on your favorite daily essentials, tasty treats, and personal care goodies—all at smarter, festival-friendly prices. It’s a win-win for your pocket and your festival mood!
