What a day for Caleb Williams! The young quarterback put on a show at Soldier Field, throwing four touchdown passes to help the Chicago Bears crush the Dallas Cowboys 31-14 on Sunday. This win was extra special because it gave head coach Ben Johnson his very first career triumph. The Bears now stand at 1-2 this season. Williams fired up the home crowd right from the start. He connected with Rome Odunze for a sparkling 35-yard gain early on. But wait, the magic didn’t stop there! Williams pulled a jaw-dropping 65-yard flea-flicker touchdown pass to rookie Luther Burden III. Burden was on fire, burning through Dallas’s defense with just three catches totaling 101 yards. By halftime, Chicago had a comfortable lead of 14-3. The Cowboys were fighting an uphill battle. Star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb was sidelined early with an ankle injury, and without his spark, Dallas struggled to make big plays. Dak Prescott did his best, completing 31 out of 40 passes for 251 yards and a touchdown, but Chicago’s defense turned the heat up when it mattered most. Linebacker Tremaine Edmunds was the real defender of the day, snagging two interceptions from Prescott in the fourth quarter. One of these was a game-changing pick inside the end zone, stopping a huge 91-yard Dallas drive dead in its tracks. The Bears’ defense forced three turnovers in the final quarter, including a bold strip sack of running back Javonte Williams, who was running strong all game with a 7.6 yards per carry average. Coach Ben Johnson wasn't afraid to take risks either. Late in the third quarter, he took a daring call on fourth-and-goal, keeping his offense on the field. Williams rewarded that trust with a precise touchdown pass to DJ Moore, stretching the lead to a cool 31-14. On the Dallas side, tight end Jake Ferguson was a bright spot, catching 13 passes for 82 yards. Backup quarterback Joe Milton entered late but threw an interception in the end zone with less than a minute left, sealing the Cowboys’ fate. Now, Dallas (1-2) heads home to face the Green Bay Packers (2-1), hoping to bounce back. Meanwhile, the Bears' shaky run defense will need work, but with Caleb Williams’ arm and some late defensive fireworks, Chicago celebrates a powerful first win in 2025.
