US Secretary of State Marco Rubio took the UN Security Council stage and dazzled everyone by slating President Donald Trump as the man who ended the dangerous conflict between India and Pakistan. At a UN meeting on Ukraine on Tuesday, Rubio said, “When President Trump took office, he made it among his highest priorities the restoration of peace anywhere and everywhere in the world where the opportunity presented itself.” He proudly called the India-Pakistan clash “a very dangerous conflict” that Trump personally got involved in, leading it to a stop. Rubio didn’t stop there! He added that Trump played a “critical role” in solving other sticky conflicts too—between Thailand and Cambodia, Congo and Rwanda, and Azerbaijan and Armenia. But when it comes to Ukraine, Rubio admitted it’s been “an extraordinary challenge.” He said, “This is a war that cannot end militarily. It will end at a negotiating table.” Standing tall at the UN General Assembly, Trump himself claimed, “In a period of just seven months, I have ended seven unendable wars.” He rattled off places like Cambodia, Thailand, Kosovo, Serbia, Congo, Rwanda, Pakistan, India, Israel, Iran, Egypt, Ethiopia, and Armenia. “No president or prime minister, and for that matter, no other country has ever done anything close to that,” he said proudly. “And I did it in just seven months.” Trump's favorite story? How he stopped the India-Pakistan conflict. Since May 10, he’s shouted out on social media more than 50 times that he “helped settle” the tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbours after a “long night” of talks in Washington. But here’s where the drama gets spicy: India strongly denies any third-party help. India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7 to target terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) after a deadly April 22 attack in Pahalgam killed 26 civilians. The fierce cross-border strikes ended on May 10 when India and Pakistan agreed to a ceasefire. Indian officials say this happened through direct talks between the military leaders of the two countries—not because Trump or anyone else stepped in. Prime Minister Narendra Modi told Parliament clearly, “No leader of any country asked India to stop Operation Sindoor.” External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar also confirmed there was “no third-party intervention” in the ceasefire. So while Trump and Rubio paint a picture of presidential peacemaking, India stands firm on its story: this peace was made by direct discussion between India and Pakistan, with no someone else calling the shots. This exciting tale of war and peace just shows how big global politics can be—full of claims, clarifications, and the never-ending game of who did what!
