Hold onto your seats! Union Minister for Education Dharmendra Pradhan has dropped a mega innovation challenge for young minds across India. On Tuesday, he launched the Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025 — a thrilling nationwide event to light the spark of creativity, innovation, and problem-solving among school students. This exciting initiative is powered by the Department of School Education and Literacy, teamed up with the Atal Innovation Mission, NITI Aayog, and All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). Picture this — more than one crore students from 1.5 lakh schools all over India joining in to invent and innovate! At the launch, Pradhan unveiled the cool Buildathon logo and catchy jingle, saying, “The initiative would celebrate student innovations, engineer an innovation renaissance in the country, and ensure that the young generations become key drivers of Samriddhi, Viksit, and Atmanirbhar Bharat.” Now, that’s some strong inspiration! The Buildathon’s heart beats around four sizzling themes: Atmanirbhar Bharat, Swadeshi, Vocal for Local, and Samriddh Bharat. What does this mean? Students are encouraged to think out-of-the-box for national growth, push self-reliance, sustainable growth, and make India a shining global innovation hub. Fancy becoming part of a possible world record? Here’s your chance! To join the magic, registrations opened on September 23 and will stay live until October 6, 2025. Students just need to hop onto the official portal vbb.mic.gov.in, fill in their and their school's details, and submit their brilliant project idea. From October 6 to October 13, teachers will hold the hands of their student teams guiding them through the process. Then comes the LIVE synchronized innovation event on October 13 — the big stage for young geniuses! Final submissions will be accepted until October 31, with a panel of experts judging the creations through November and December. And guess what? In January 2026, the top 1,000 innovators will get the spotlight with awards and felicitation. This Buildathon stands tall on the success of last year’s School Innovation Marathon, which sparked patents, startups, and cool student entrepreneur projects from Atal Tinkering Labs. School Education Secretary Sanjay Kumar said, “The event brings together students, educators, and innovators to build solutions for a self-reliant India, aligned with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.” So, if you’re a student in classes 6 to 12, this is your playground to shine, create, and help shape India’s innovation future. Ready to add your own masala to India’s story of progress? Then register fast and get inventing!
