Get ready for some high-flying action near Alaska! The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) revealed that US fighter jets quickly took off to identify and intercept four Russian warplanes buzzing close to Alaska’s airspace. This isn’t just a one-time visitor either – it’s the ninth such Russian flyby this year and the third in just about one month! The latest excitement happened this Wednesday. NORAD reported spotting two big Tu-95 bombers and two sleek Su-35 fighter jets in the Alaskan Air Defence Identification Zone (ADIZ). To counter this, a whole squadron of nine US planes sprang into action! This included an E-3 Sentry command and control aircraft, four F-16 fighters, and four KC-135 tanker planes refueling them mid-air. But here’s the twist – the Russian jets stayed in international airspace and didn’t cross into USA or Canada’s protected zones. NORAD emphasized this kind of Russian activity near Alaska happens quite often and isn't seen as a threat. Why is all this happening now? Maybe it’s tied to the growing heat in global politics. Just days before this, US President Donald Trump made a surprising statement. He said he thinks Ukraine could win back all the land it lost to Russia in the ongoing war. That’s a sharp turn from his earlier calls to encourage Kyiv to compromise with Moscow. Meanwhile, NATO is keeping a sharp eye on Russia too. After Russian drones were shot down in Poland and a report of Russian jets entering Estonia’s airspace, NATO warned Russia about defending its territory fiercely. Trump’s words got bolder too, saying that NATO countries "should shoot down Russian aircraft if they enter their airspace." When asked if the US would back NATO allies in such a tense moment, Trump said, "it depends on the circumstance." Earlier, Trump tried playing peace broker by setting up direct talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy after their summit in Alaska. But Putin hasn’t shown interest and has instead intensified attacks on Ukraine. So, the skies near Alaska are buzzing with jet engines, and the world watches closely as politics and military muscle play out in this high-stakes game!
