Rupinder Pal Singh has been super busy lately! After helping with flood relief in Punjab, this former Indian hockey star switched gears to coach India’s junior players in Bengaluru. And to add more sparkle, he was snapped up by Delhi SG Pipers in the Hockey India League mini-auction on Wednesday. Last season, Rupinder led Shrachi Rarh Bengal Tigers to victory, and now he wants to bring that winning magic to Delhi as well. But his heart is with the young players who will represent India in the Junior World Cup set for Chennai and Madurai later this year. In a virtual press meet on Thursday, Rupinder shared his thoughts: “Sreejesh is doing well with the team at the moment. They are fast, skillful and talented but I think they need to work on their game management a bit. That will improve with time and experience, which they will gain by playing more matches.” He pointed out the importance of teamwork and keeping cool. “Also, despite wins or losses, the team needs to stay united. They should always aim to win but to achieve that they should not feel so much pressure that they forget their game.” Rupinder is glowing with praise for the drag-flickers he coached. Out of 12-13 players, 4-5 look very promising! With just two months left for the World Cup, he focused on fine-tuning key skills rather than drastic changes. His aim? To boost their performance and help India shine on home turf! So, here’s to a thrilling hockey season filled with passion, skill, and unstoppable teamwork!
