Babil Khan Opens Up on Depression After Social Media Storm: A Brave Heart in Bollywood's Spotlight

October 13, 2025

This May, Babil Khan became the center of attention on social media after a powerful video showed him pouring out his frustration with the film industry. The emotional clip, where he called the industry insincere and mentioned some colleagues, created a big uproar. Babil then decided to take a break and deleted his social media accounts for a while. Reports also said he stepped back from a project to focus on his mental health. Recently, Babil was spotted at the airport, and he took to Instagram to open up about his ongoing struggle with depression. Wearing a deep red t-shirt, Babil shared a touching message about his inner pain. He said he felt exposed and drained, as if carrying heavy inner demons. His words described sleepless nights, scary panic attacks, and a need to express himself no matter how painful. He confessed his mental health had hurt him deeply, both in body and spirit, and he needed time to heal. Babil’s heartfelt post showed his brave fight to speak openly about mental health—a topic hardly talked about in Bollywood. He wrote, “Didn’t mean to eavesdrop; this glass house has lean walls. I wore my heart on my sleeve; now I have blood-soaked t-shirts. I needed time to heal. My demons left me with deep cuts, insomnia, and panic had me making wired confessions, I was crying out for help, I couldn’t stifle my expression. The toll was heavy on my health, my soul was tired of repression, ‘you were fighting with your girl while I was fighting my depression…wait..’ ” His words struck a chord with many. Fellow actors jumped in to support him warmly—Vijay Varma said he wasn’t alone, Aparshakti Khurana sent a heart emoji, and Gulshan Devaiah happily welcomed him back online. Fans also filled the comments with applause for Babil’s honesty and courage. Earlier, when the viral video started all the drama, Babil’s family had cleared the air by saying he was going through a really tough time. They said his words about other artists were misunderstood and actually meant as praise, not criticism. Babil is the son of the late legendary actor Irrfan Khan. He started his film journey behind the camera before acting, making a splash with the movie Qala (2022). Now, he continues to shine with roles like the Netflix miniseries The Railway Men. Babil’s story shows both the magic and the challenges that come with life in Bollywood, reminding everyone that even stars have tough battles to fight.
