The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court is buzzing with action, said Chief Justice Manindra Mohan Shrivastava during his warm welcome on Monday. This bench isn’t just an office far from Chennai, but a bold step to bring justice closer to people so they don’t have to travel far. "Justice must travel to the people and not expect the people to travel long distances in pursuit of justice," said the Chief Justice. He proudly shared how the Madurai Bench has grown in strength and importance. It’s now a shining home for young legal stars and boasts strong infrastructure. But Chief Justice Shrivastava reminded everyone that the real success lies in the confidence of the people who come seeking justice. "The Bench and the Bar are equally accountable to uphold not only integrity, but also public trust," he said. The big task is not just to settle cases but to make justice easy to get. The Chief Justice shared his three promises to the Bar and Bench: "accessibility, integrity and institutional harmony." These principles show his dedication to a historic High Court. The welcome address was given by Additional Advocate General M. Ajmal Khan, with cheers from Bar Association office-bearers, Justice Anita Sumanth (Administrative Judge of Madurai Bench), fellow judges, lawyers, and court staff joining the lively event. This was Chief Justice Shrivastava’s first visit to the Madurai Bench since becoming Chief Justice. After the warm words, he joined Justice R. Poornima on a Division Bench hearing public interest petitions, service cases, and appeals. The visit sets a fresh tone for the Madurai Bench’s exciting future in delivering justice with passion and fairness.
