The Union Ministry of Law and Justice has launched a vibrant new digital tool named the 'live cases' dashboard! Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal proudly called this a “significant step towards enhancing transparency.” This exciting dashboard is part of the Legal Information Management and Briefing System (LIMBS), a smart platform that keeps a close eye on government lawsuits in courts and tribunals across the country. LIMBS doesn’t just list cases—it brings them to life with real-time data and eye-catching visuals. It shows upcoming hearings and offers a bird’s-eye view that helps ministries act fast and coordinate better. As Meghwal said, this means more accountability, clearer oversight, and improved efficiency in handling government litigation. Did you know? The Indian government is a huge player in court battles, being one of the biggest litigants! To tackle this maze of cases, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has pushed hard to reduce the number of lawsuits. That’s where LIMBS shines. Right now, it tracks a whopping 7,23,123 live court cases from 53 different Ministries and Departments! Who keeps the wheels turning? Around 13,175 ministry users and 18,458 advocates regularly update the court case details on LIMBS. This active involvement ensures the data is fresh and reliable. In fact, the Law Ministry revealed in February that the Centre is a party in nearly seven lakh ongoing cases across the courts. The Finance Ministry alone manages about two lakh cases. It's a massive load, but with LIMBS, the government aims to get a handle on this challenge with more transparency and smarter management. This dashboard is a shining example of how technology is making India's legal system more vibrant and effective!
