JABALPUR: Time waits for no one, not even for a passenger caught in a tricky situation at Jabalpur railway station! Last week, this traveller had a tense experience that’s now creating a buzz online. The passenger had jumped off a moving train briefly on October 17 to buy snacks and other food costing around Rs 180. He tried to pay the vendor digitally by scanning a QR code – but the payment got stuck! As his train began chugging away from Platform No. 5, things took a wild turn. The vendor, who works with Kanchan Restaurant, grabbed the passenger by his collar, threatening him to pay for the food. The heated moment was caught on a viral video that shows the vendor acting violently while others watch on in surprise. Realizing he was about to miss his train, the passenger acted fast! The clip clearly shows him removing his smartwatch and handing it over to the angry vendor before sprinting to catch his already moving train. The drama didn’t end there. After the video spread like wildfire on social media, the Railway Police Force (RPF) took swift action. The vendor was booked under Section 145 of the Railways Act, which deals with “disorderly conduct and causing nuisance.” Police said, “He had been warned against repeating such misbehaviour.” On October 18, the vendor was summoned for questioning by the RPF, showing that the authorities mean business. This incident raises an important question for all travellers: How safe and fair are vendors at public transport spots? Should stricter rules be put in place to stop such abuses? The passenger’s quick thinking saved his ride, but his smartwatch now remains with the vendor till this mystery ends. So, next time you pay online at a station, keep an eye on the clock — and your watch!
