May 22, 2025

The Muthupettai police in Tamil Nadu have taken action against four BJP leaders for their alleged involvement in inciting religious animosity. The leaders, including prominent figures like Muruganandam and H.Raja, are accused of delivering speeches that could disrupt the peace between different religious communities. The officials have registered a case under Sections 196(1)9b), 197, and 353(1)(b) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The speeches were reportedly made at a meeting organized by the BJP in support of the recent amendments to the Waqf Act in Muthupettai on May 17. The complaint, filed by Sub-inspector Rahul, highlighted the content of the speeches as attempts to spark religious conflicts. The case was officially filed on May 21 night, as per sources. This development underscores the legal consequences that can arise from using inflammatory language or rhetoric that can jeopardize communal harmony.
