Hold tight, India and Brazil are taking their defense friendship to the next level! Recently, India’s Defence Minister Rajnath Singh met Brazil’s José Múcio Monteiro Filho in New Delhi to chat about exciting joint projects. The spotlight is on the Embraer C-390 Millennium – a tactical transport aircraft Brazil is offering to India. Why? Because the Indian Air Force is on the hunt for up to 80 medium transport aircraft and this plane fits the bill perfectly. The two defense ministers agreed on “priority areas for joint work including exploring opportunities for co-development and co-production of defence equipment.” But wait, there’s more masala! Brazil is all set to sign a defense industry memorandum of understanding (MOU) with India soon, promising to turbocharge their collaboration in making and selling defense products. And guess what? November will see a second big meeting in Brazil to deepen these ties even further. Adding more flavor to this huge partnership, on 17 October, Embraer teamed up with India's Mahindra Group in a fresh agreement to jointly pitch the C-390 for the Indian Air Force. This deal was signed as Embraer opened its India office in New Delhi. Mahindra’s press release says this partnership will expand to “joint marketing and industrialisation” and even aims at “developing India as a hub for the C-390 Millennium.” Mahindra also revealed they’ll work closely with Embraer to spot opportunities for “local manufacturing, assembly facilities, supply chain, and MRO [maintenance, repair, and overhaul] activities.” This means the C-390 won’t just land in India—it will be made and taken care of right here, giving a big boost to India’s defense industry. So, get ready for a fresh wind in India-Brazil defense friendship with the Embraer C-390 possibly soaring high in the Indian skies soon. It’s a vibrant new chapter in making India’s air force stronger and self-reliant—and the best part is how they will do it together with Brazil and the Mahindra Group!
