Haryana DGP OP Singh Clears Air on Police Morale After Two Officers' Suicides Amid Social Media Buzz

October 22, 2025

Big news from Haryana's police world! On Tuesday, Haryana DGP OP Singh shook off social media rumors with a strong statement. After two heartbreaks—the deaths of IPS officer Y Puran Kumar and ASI Sandeep—many whispers spread online. But Singh said, "No one's morale was shattered, nothing happened." He spotlighted the huge gap between what social media says and the real, honest world. The story is sad. IPS officer Y Puran Kumar died by suicide on October 7 at his official home in Chandigarh. Not long after, ASI Sandeep was found dead in strange circumstances near a field in Rohtak's Ladhot village. Sandeep had accused the late Kumar and his family of corruption before his death. But DGP Singh urged everyone to separate online drama from the truth. Speaking to reporters, he said, "There are two worlds these days: social media and the real world. There is no problem in the real world. Whatever was happening was happening on social media." Singh expressed his deep sorrow for the two longtime colleagues who served the country for 20-25 years. "We are the police force and our fight continues... Do we have the option to just sit back and be disheartened?" Digging into the problem, Singh revealed the police force is thinking seriously about avoiding such painful incidents in the future. "We want to strengthen the Officers' Wives' Association," he said. "Our work is limited not just to the officers but extends to their families so that a situation does not arise where one takes their own life." The DGP also painted a proud picture of Haryana police's safety record, noting no police deaths from 1967 to 1977 and a goal to keep it that way. Technology upgrades and capable officers managing their areas well are the new weapons in their arsenal. With Diwali around the corner, safety steps are in full swing. "The recent suicides have prompted serious thoughts about improving living and family atmospheres for police personnel," Singh said, pointing out that police work means facing big challenges. The leadership continues its push to support all police officers mentally and emotionally. Adding to this story’s background, IPS Om Parkash Singh got the additional charge of Haryana DGP after the previous DGP Shatrujeet Kapur was put on leave amid the investigation related to IPS Y Puran Kumar's death. In the thick jungle of social media chatter and harsh realities, Haryana’s police top boss has firmly told everyone—don’t confuse the noisy online world with the real strength inside the force. The police family stands tall, ready to face the storm!
