Thrilling 3rd ODI at SCG: Wickets fall as India battles Australia in Sydney

October 25, 2025

Welcome to the action-packed third men's ODI between Australia and India at the historic Sydney Cricket Ground. Though Australia already won the series with a tight victory in Adelaide, this match is anything but boring – Australia wants a clean sweep, while India aims to stop them. Australia won the toss and chose to bat first, continuing an incredible streak where India has lost 18 ODI tosses in a row! But Shubman Gill, India’s captain, isn’t bothered. He said, "I would have bowled first anyway. It looks a good surface," while Aussie all-rounder Mitch Marsh said, "Sunny conditions, hopefully we bat well and put a good total on the board." Australia made one change, bringing Nathan Ellis back in place of Xavier Bartlett. Indian side brought in Kuldeep Yadav and Prasidh Krishna replacing Reddy and Arshdeep. The Australian opening pair of Mitchell Marsh (captain) and Travis Head started strong. Prasidh Krishna bowled a fiery over, and Marsh hammered a six and a four to get the crowd roaring. But the game soon heated up with wickets tumbling for Australia, thanks to tight Indian bowling. Mohammed Siraj, showing great skill, took the key wicket of Travis Head with a sharp delivery. Head hit a four off the ball before but got caught at backward point the very next ball. Siraj celebrated joyously. Then Axar Patel trapped Mitchell Marsh LBW right after drinks, ending his solid 41-run innings. India’s Washington Sundar caused more trouble, catching Matthew Short off his sweep shot in a brilliant fielding moment by Virat Kohli at square leg. Talking about Kohli, he has faced some rough patches lately, having gotten two ducks in a row. But his sharp catch against Short brought cheers from Indian fans. India’s bowling unit, including Kuldeep, Prasidh, and Siraj, kept the pressure tight by conceding very few runs and taking crucial wickets. The wickets have dragged Australia to a tricky position and India looks fired up to reign in the Aussie batters. The Sydney Cricket Ground is buzzing with energy as both teams battle hard. With Australia's big stars like Starc and Hazlewood bowling without rest, and India’s seamers and spinners ready, this match promises fireworks. Will India stop Australia’s historic clean sweep or will the Aussies seal it with style? Stay tuned!
