India Slams Pakistan Over Kashmir Rights Violations, Pushes for Major UN Reforms at Security Council

October 25, 2025

In a fiery session at the UN Security Council on October 24, 2025, India’s Permanent Representative, Ambassador Parvathaneni Harish, made it loud and clear: democracy is a stranger to Pakistan! India blasted Islamabad for grave human rights violations in the lands under its illegal control, where people are rising against military rule and harsh exploitation. Ambassador Harish proudly said, "The people of Jammu and Kashmir exercise their fundamental rights in accordance with India’s time-tested democratic traditions and constitutional framework." Then came the zinger, "We, of course, know that these are concepts alien to Pakistan," he added. He did not stop there – Harish firmly stated that Jammu and Kashmir "has been, is, and will always be" an inseparable part of India. He called on Pakistan to immediately end its brutal military rule and exploitation, pointing out that the population is openly revolting against this oppression. Shifting gears to the UN itself, Harish made a passionate plea for urgent and thorough reforms. "An outdated Council architecture that mirrors the geopolitical realities of 1945 is not equipped to handle the challenges of 2025," he said, demanding expansion of both permanent and non-permanent seats through "time-bound" and "text-based negotiations." He highlighted that the Global South—home to the majority of the world's population—deserves a louder voice in global decisions. "Postponing reforms indefinitely does immense disservice to our citizens, especially in the Global South," he warned, stressing the urgent need to address issues like development, climate change, and financing. India, Harish stated, believes in real multilateralism. The world must upgrade the UN beyond mere symbolic changes to handle crises like pandemics, terrorism, economic shocks, and climate change. He also addressed concerns about the UN’s relevance and credibility, noting a troubling trend where international cooperation is seen as charity, and prosperity is hoarded by a few. "Progress that is not universal is neither sustainable nor tenable," he declared. Harish stressed that peacekeepers face new challenges daily and need better support. He said that while tweaks to UN bodies are welcome, true reform is critical as the UN turns 80. Revitalising the General Assembly as the main policy body and improving harmony with the Security Council were also key points. Cautioning against divisive politics, he insisted, "In a world fractured and fragmented along multiple fault lines, the United Nations... is the only vehicle we possess to harness our collective energies for global public good." Invoking India's ancient belief in "Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam" or "the world is one family," Harish urged all countries to unite and make the UN ready for the new era. Will this call spark real change at the global stage? The stage is set, the message is clear – India wants justice in Kashmir and a stronger, fairer UN for all humanity.
