Palantir Slaps Lawsuit on Ex-Engineers for Copying AI Tech and Launching Rival Firm

October 31, 2025

Exciting legal drama erupts as Palantir Technologies, the famous software giant, sues two of its former top engineers! Radha Jain and Joanna Cohen are at the center of this storm, accused of taking Palantir’s secret sauce—its precious source code and customer data—to launch a 'copycat' AI company, Percepta AI. The lawsuit filed in a Manhattan federal court claims that Jain and Cohen were trusted insiders who had access to the company's “crown jewels.” These two tech wizards allegedly broke strict agreements meant to protect Palantir’s secrets. Palantir’s AI software helps businesses and government agencies become super efficient by using the data they already have. Now, Percepta AI is said to offer similar magic tricks. Radha Jain left Palantir in November 2024 after playing a key role in shaping its flagship software. Joanna Cohen, who worked on AI solutions tailored for individual customers, quit in February this year. Percepta AI, backed by the venture capital powerhouse General Catalyst, went public just this month. Palantir’s lawsuit doesn't hold back, stating, “Jain’s and Cohen’s deception and violation of their agreements with Palantir are black and white.” While Percepta and Jain have kept quiet, Cohen couldn’t be reached for comment. Interestingly, Percepta AI quickly snapped up at least ten former Palantir employees within months, and nearly half its team are ex-Palantir folks. This even includes the co-founder and CEO Hirsh Jain. It's a classic tale of a startup batting with the big league rival! Palantir insists that both engineers signed clear agreements. These forbid them from competing with Palantir for a whole year after they leave, stop them from attracting Palantir customers or workers for two years, and bar them from using any confidential info outside their jobs. Now, Palantir wants the court to enforce these rules strictly and stop Jain and Cohen from breaking the deal. The case is heating up, and it’s certainly one to watch in the tech battle arena!
