Get ready for a dazzling story from the heart of the Vatican! Kerala’s very own musical maestros, singer Vijay Yesudas and keyboard wizard Stephen Devassy, created magical moments with their stunning performance at the famous Nostra Aetate event. This special occasion marked 60 glorious years of an important church declaration promoting harmony among all religions. The scene was set at the Paul VI Hall in Vatican City on Tuesday. The talented duo kicked off their act with the powerful words of Kerala’s social reform hero, Sree Narayana Guru: "Jathi Bhedam Matha Dwesham" — which means "no caste, no religious hatred." How’s that for a message of love and peace? Then came the melody that captured hearts — "Daiva Sneham Varnichidan," a beautiful Malayalam Christian devotional song. The song, composed by retired DGP Tomin J Thachankary, soared with sweet notes, touching souls and melting barriers. Their soulful music was witnessed by none other than Pope Leo XIV himself, making it a truly unforgettable moment. The performance was so powerful that videos of it quickly spread like wildfire across social media! Stephen Devassy shared snapshots on Facebook too, calling the experience "some amazing moments in Rome." He said, "It was bliss to be in the presence of Pope Leo," and added that he was thrilled to perform alongside artists from all corners of the world. Devassy’s office mentioned he will fly back to Kerala by Friday. And who is Vijay Yesudas? He carries the proud legacy of his legendary father, maestro KJ Yesudas! Together, this dynamic duo brought Kerala’s spiritual essence right to the Vatican’s doorstep. This magical event saw artists from many countries uniting in music, echoing the spirit of the Catholic Church’s Nostra Aetate declaration, which promotes respect and friendship among people of all faiths. It's a big celebration that resonates not just in Rome but across the world. So, Kerala’s musical magic met the Vatican’s spiritual vibe, creating a perfect symphony of culture, faith, and harmony. Isn’t that a heartwarming melody for all of us?
