United Spirits’ Q2 Net Profit Jumps 41% to ₹472 Crore; Premium Brands Spark Sales

October 31, 2025

United Spirits Ltd, India’s largest liquor maker, has delivered a dazzling performance in the July-September quarter. The company’s net profit skyrocketed by a huge 41% to ₹472 crore! What’s the magic behind this growth? It’s a combo of soaring demand for premium brands, smart price hikes, and better profit margins. Even though there were some tough government rules in Maharashtra, the company handled it well. The total revenue for the quarter jumped 11.5% to ₹3,170 crore. This boost came from United Spirits getting back into Andhra Pradesh, and a good comparison with last year’s figures, even though Maharashtra’s policy changes put a bit of pressure on growth. Praveen Someshwar, the big boss at Diageo India and managing director of United Spirits, said, "We have delivered a strong quarter on topline and EBITDA growth and ended the first half in line with our expectations while navigating the regulatory headwinds in Maharashtra." He also pointed out that the second half is very important due to festive, holiday, and wedding seasons which will drive more sales. The spotlight is on the premium segment! Sales from the prestige and above category, which includes famous brands like Johnnie Walker, jumped 12.4% and made up nearly 90% of total sales. Meanwhile, the popular or mass market segment also grew by a solid 9.2%. Profit margins got a juicy boost as well. Gross profit rose by 16.2%, and gross margin expanded by 190 basis points to a healthy 47.1%. This was thanks to smart price moves, better mix of products, cost savings, and steady input costs. EBITDA soared 32.5% to ₹672 crore, with EBITDA margin improving a whopping 337 basis points to 21.2%. The market loved these results! On Thursday, United Spirits shares in Mumbai closed 0.4% higher at ₹1,393 on the BSE, showing investor confidence. Clearly, United Spirits is mixing a perfect cocktail of growth ingredients – premium brands, smart pricing, and cost control – even while facing regulatory challenges. The festive season magic is about to add more sparkle to their numbers!
