Hold on tight! Nexperia, the big Dutch company known for making chips, has just pulled the plug on sending wafers to its factory in China. Why? Because the local bosses didn’t pay up on time! A letter, dated October 29 and signed by Nexperia’s acting CEO Stefan Tilger, revealed that from October 26, wafer deliveries to the Chinese assembly plant are on hold. The letter explains this step came as "a direct consequence of the local management's recent failure to comply with the agreed contractual payment terms." This sudden halt is like throwing fuel on the fire of global chip shortages, which are already shaking the automotive world. Car companies everywhere are worried about running short of these tiny but mighty chips, vital for making vehicles run smoothly. Neither Nexperia, their Chinese branch, nor the Chinese owner Wingtech Technology have commented yet on this spicy situation. With chips in short supply and payments stalling factories, the global auto industry might feel the heat even more. Watch this space for more updates!
