Trey Yesavage grabbed the spotlight at Dodger Stadium on October 29, 2025! The 22-year-old rookie for the Toronto Blue Jays gave a stunning performance in Game 5 of the World Series, pitching seven strong innings and helping the Blue Jays crush the Los Angeles Dodgers 6-1. This victory gave Toronto a 3-2 lead in the series before they host Game 6 at home. After the game, superstar Vladimir Guerrero Jr. couldn't hide his feelings. He warmly praised the young pitcher, saying, "I told him I was so proud of him," Guerrero told reporters. "He’s a human being. I love him. Every fifth day he comes to give it all he has, and he showed it today. He’s built for this." What a game by Yesavage! The rookie kept his cool and dazzled the crowd by striking out twelve Dodgers batters and letting only one run slip through, a solo home run by Enrique Hernandez in the third inning. Despite that, Trey stayed confident and proved he belongs on the big stage. Guerrero called the performance a "masterclass." The Blue Jays wasted no time supporting their young star. Davis Schneider blasted a home run on the very first pitch, and just moments later, Guerrero smashed his eighth home run of the playoffs, tying MLB superstar Shohei Ohtani for most homers in this postseason! Ernie Clement added a sacrifice fly in the fourth inning, and Toronto scored more runs in the seventh to seal their big win. This incredible mix of youth and experience, with Yesavage's calm on the mound and Guerrero's power in the batting order, gave the Blue Jays a perfect combo. Sports giants ESPN and The Guardian praised Yesavage’s Game 5 pitching as one of the best postseason efforts this year. Right after the game, Trey Yesavage revealed how he keeps calm before big games. Talking to ESPN’s Jeff Passan, Yesavage laughed, "I saw something on Instagram that someone posted about me being locked in, but I was just doomscrolling on TikTok and Instagram reels. I just keep it chill and try not to think about anything." Even though his major league debut is set for September 2025, Yesavage is already making history in the playoffs with a 3-1 record in five games and a 3.46 ERA. If the Dodgers push for a Game 7, the rookie might even pitch in relief duty. For now, the Blue Jays and Yesavage aim to finish their dream run at home on October 31, 2025, at the Rogers Center, where Blue Jays fans will cheer them on loudly!
