ISRO Aims for 7 Rocket Launches, Including First Uncrewed Gaganyaan Mission by March 2026!

November 3, 2025

ISRO's excitement is soaring high after a thrilling day in Chennai! The space agency's Chairman V Narayanan announced an ambitious plan: to launch seven missions before the end of March 2026. This includes the historic first uncrewed mission of the Gaganyaan programme, India's step towards human spaceflight. “Our Gaganyaan programme is progressing well. It is in advanced stages. All hardware have arrived at Sriharikota and integration is happening,” said Narayanan confidently. The first uncrewed mission, playfully called the 'G1 Mission', is set to blast off before the end of the current financial year. Celebrating the recent success, ISRO launched CMS-03, a communication satellite weighing a whopping 4410 kg – the heaviest ever lifted from Indian soil! Launched on the powerful LVM3-M05 rocket, CMS-03 will serve the Indian Navy with advanced communication from its place in geosynchronous orbit. What’s next on ISRO’s agenda? Narayanan shares, after this launch, another LVM3 rocket will carry a commercial communication satellite for a client. Then, three more PSLV missions will take place, with one carrying a satellite for NewSpace India Ltd (NSIL), ISRO’s commercial arm. Moreover, a technology mission named PSLV-N1 and the GSLV-F17 rocket launch are also targeted before March 2026. “I know it is not an easy job. It is a tough job. But I know that we will accomplish these activities,” Narayanan said with resolve. He added, “Team ISRO is geared up to meet the vision of the Prime Minister to launch 50 missions in the next 5 years.” This bold goal underlines India’s unstoppable march in space exploration. The space and satellite industry is all smiles! Lt Gen Anil K Bhatt (retd.), Director General of Indian Space Association (ISpA), hailed CMS-03’s launch as a “monumental achievement” demonstrating India’s powerful ability to launch heavy military satellites. Subba Rao Pavuluri, Chairman of Ananth Technologies Pvt. Ltd and President of the Satcom Industry Association-India, proudly said, “The successful launch of CMS-3, a multi-band military communication satellite demonstrated ISRO’s capability to deliver advanced communication infrastructure to the nation.” Ananth Technologies played a big role by providing key subsystems like power management, telemetry systems, and navigation sensors for CMS-03 and vital parts for the LVM3 rocket. Bhatt noted, “The satellite will be a game changer for our maritime and national security, providing advanced, secure communication channels that are critical in the Indian Ocean Region and mainland.” He added this launch strengthens India’s space power and shows a vibrant future for private industry in space. With these fiery plans and recent successes, ISRO is clearly gearing up to paint the Indian space story with even brighter colours!
