Bangladesh has cancelled a $21 million order with Indian defence shipyard GRSE for an advanced ocean-going tug due to deteriorating bilateral ties. The contract, signed last year, was part of a $500 million line of credit extended by India to Bangladesh for defence purchases. The cancellation comes amidst strained relations following political changes in Bangladesh. India had been strengthening military ties with Bangladesh to counter China's influence in the region. Both countries have emphasized the importance of maintaining friendly relations for mutual benefit.
