The Karnataka government has merged the post of BBMP Engineer-in-chief with the Director (Technical) of Bengaluru Smart Infrastructure Limited (B-SMILE). B.S. Prahlad, the current engineer-in-chief, has been appointed as Director (Technical) of B-SMILE. This move is aimed at boosting infrastructure development in Bengaluru, with B-SMILE set to implement key projects in the city. The decision comes in the wake of the government's plan to allocate a substantial grant annually for Bengaluru's infrastructure development. This strategic merger is expected to streamline project implementation and drive progress in the city's infrastructure sector.
