Adani Enterprises Ltd is bringing some fireworks to the market with a huge plan! The company’s board gave the green signal to raise up to ₹25,000 crore through a rights issue involving partly paid-up equity shares. This big money move aims mainly to pay off debt and pump capital into its airport business. The announcement came alongside a sparkling set of numbers for the quarter ending September 30. The company’s consolidated net profit jumped a massive 84% year-on-year to ₹3,199 crore. What powered this rise? A special one-time gain of ₹3,583 crore from selling a 10.42% stake in Adani Wilmar Ltd, trimming their holding from 30.42% to 20%. However, there was a twist. Profit before exceptional items and taxes took a hit, plunging 66% to ₹814 crore because of weak profits from trading and roads businesses. Revenue also fell 6% to ₹21,249 crore due to lower trading volumes and prices. Net external debt climbed too, swelling to ₹60,070 crore by September from ₹49,306 crore in March 2025. The net external debt to EBITDA ratio also rose from 2.9 to 3.9, highlighting the company’s leverage. On the bright side, the airport business soared with revenue jumping 43% year-on-year to ₹3,167 crore, showing that the company’s focus on infrastructure is paying off. Chairman Gautam Adani said, “Our strong performance across airports, data centres and roads underscores the momentum of our core infrastructure portfolio.” If Adani Enterprises raises the full ₹25,000 crore, it will mark one of the biggest fundraisings by the group’s flagship company. This fresh fund-raising comes after the company called off a ₹20,000 crore offer in 2023 due to pressure following a report by short-seller Hindenburg Research. Last financial year, the company had raised $500 million from institutional investors. The rights issue will be offered to eligible shareholders on a date to be announced, promising an exciting chapter in Adani’s growth story. Will this move help them tame the debt beast and reach new heights in airports? The stage is set for an electrifying performance in the world of Indian infrastructure giants!
