KANPUR: What started as a simple evening ride ended in heartbreak on Thursday at the scenic Ganga Barrage in Kanpur. Bhavika Gupta, a vibrant 23-year-old, had just come close to the barrage with her friend on a two-wheeler. Suddenly, four daring youths zoomed past on two motorcycles, their speed a shocking 110 km/hr! One of these thrill-seekers rammed heavily into Bhavika's scooter. Her family said "Bhavika was dragged for at least 50 meters" by the speeding bikes. The crash was so violent that Bhavika was rushed to the hospital but sadly, she died there. The youths didn’t stop to help; instead, they fled the scene, leaving behind one sports bike. The bike carried social media details linked to one Brijesh Nishad. Curious investigators found a photo of a young man posing with a sports bike on the profile. Adding salt to the wound, some social media comments were asking, "whether he (Brijesh) was alive after the accident at Ganga Barrage." The Kanpur police are now on a mission to find these reckless riders and bring justice for Bhavika. This tragic episode is a raw reminder of how dangerous over-speeding and unwanted stunts can be on busy public roads.
