Yadgir Town Police arrested Shankar Gooli for allegedly setting the District Congress Committee Office on fire. The incident occurred after Gooli's wife was replaced by another woman for the president's post of the Mahila Morcha. Gooli, upset by this decision, set the party office on fire around 1:30 a.m. on May 24, 2025. The office bearers discovered the fire later that morning and reported the incident to the authorities. Police arrested Gooli after reviewing CCTV footage and launched a search for the accomplice, Bapugouda. A can filled with petrol was seized from the scene, and an investigation is ongoing.
