NIT Manipur Suspends Assistant Registrar Over Financial Misconduct Allegations!
November 16, 2025
Big news from Imphal! The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Manipur has hit pause on one of its key officers. Assistant registrar Laikangbam Dorendro Singh was suspended after serious charges fell on his shoulders. What kind of charges? The institute says Singh is accused of "misuse of official position," flouting financial rules, and behaving badly as an employee.
This drama unfolded at the Board of Governors' (BOG) 36th and 45th meetings earlier this year. After carefully reviewing all proofs and complaints, the BOG said, "Suspend first, sort out later!" They ordered Singh's immediate suspension on Thursday, a clear sign they want a fair, clean probe.
According to a statement by the institute’s Public Relations Officer, the move is to keep the investigation honest. They explained that if Singh stayed in his office, it might affect the inquiry in a sneaky way. So, Singh is not allowed to leave Imphal without written permission. Meanwhile, he will get a subsistence allowance following government rules.
Crucially, Singh is now under the watchful eyes of the NIT Manipur director during this suspension. But remember, this is just a procedural step. The institute insists this suspension does not mean Singh is guilty - only that the case is serious enough to pause his work until everything is clear.
Now, all eyes will be on how this inquiry unfolds in NIT Manipur's corridors. Will the truth come out? Stay tuned as this story develops!
