After 11 weeks of blockade, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government has finally allowed limited humanitarian aid into Gaza to prevent famine amidst the ongoing war. Aid deliveries have resumed as 198 trucks carrying flour, medical supplies, and baby food passed through the Kerem Shalom crossing. However, critics argue that the aid is insufficient compared to the needs of the 2 million people in Gaza. The United Nations, World Food Program, and other international organizations face challenges in distributing the aid effectively, with logistical issues leading to delays in reaching distribution points. Despite efforts from various NGOs and countries, including the US, to provide aid via maritime routes and land convoys, obstacles like adverse weather, security concerns, and looting have hindered the delivery of supplies. The risk of famine looms large in Gaza as the population remains heavily dependent on international aid. The deteriorating situation has pushed more people into crisis or emergency food insecurity, with millions facing the threat of starvation in the coming weeks if aid distribution does not improve significantly.
