Bengaluru buzzed with excitement as astronaut Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla called on all Indians to take responsibility and work towards 'Viksit Bharat 2047'—a vision to make India a developed nation by that year. Speaking at the vibrant Bengaluru Tech Summit, Shukla, an Indian Air Force officer and test pilot, reminded everyone of the thrilling journey ahead. "To realise our dream of Viksit Bharat-2047, my only request to all of you is to take up the responsibility and think ‘How can I take India from here to be a developed nation in 2047’," he said with passion. Shukla, selected as one of India’s first astronauts for the historic ‘Gaganyaan’ mission expected in 2027, painted a thrilling picture of the future where Indian citizens will fly to space from Indian soil in Indian rockets and capsules. "For that to happen, all of you have to come together and contribute," he urged. "You have to think about what you can do, how can you enable this to happen – from developing a simple straw to developing a complex life support system – everything is required right now, going into the future." He proudly highlighted India’s growing space startup ecosystem, mentioning there are already over 300 startups working in the space domain and this number is set to soar. "It would take the effort of the entire nation to make this mission happen in the future," Shukla emphasized. Sharing his unique perspective, Shukla described how India looks from space – beautifully surrounded by the Bay of Bengal, Indian Ocean, and Arabian Sea. As part of the Axiom-4 mission, a commercial spaceflight supported by ISRO and NASA, Shukla recently completed his maiden voyage into space. Exciting the crowd, he showed a video revealing how bright cities like Bengaluru, Pune, and Hyderabad shine like jewels from the night sky above Earth. "All I can say to you at the end of the day is that you saw how bright India looks from space right now," said the Group Captain, "but having met all of you and spoken to so many people, I can assure you that our future is even brighter than it looks in this slide." He closed with a powerful declaration: "Sky was never the limit, not for me, not for you and not for Bharat." This fiery call to action inspires every Indian to dream big and work unitedly for a dazzling future. India’s journey to the stars is just beginning, and Shubhanshu Shukla is leading the charge with spirit and hope!
