Get ready for a spectacular show of power! The Indian Army’s Western Command just wrapped up a month-long, high-energy exercise called 'Ram Prahar' involving over 20,000 brave soldiers near Haridwar. This wasn’t just any drill. It was a big test run of attacks across the Pakistan border in Punjab, with the land chosen to look like the river plains of Punjab to keep things real.
The Ram division of the Kharga Corps led this giant practice session, using tanks, amphibious armored vehicles, fighter jets, reconnaissance aircraft, Apache attack helicopters, drones, and even night-time paratroopers dropping into action. The area was actually under Central Command, but they picked it because it resembles Punjab’s tricky river-filled land.
Lieutenant General Manoj Kumar Katiyar, the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Western Command, was right there inspecting the grand finale. He said the drill was all about preparing to respond strongly if Pakistan tries any trouble again. "In the recent Operation Sindoor, we delivered a robust response, which resulted in extensive damage to Pakistani forces. But we doubt whether it has learnt any lesson. If there is another mischief by it, we are prepared to respond with far greater force, including entering Pakistan from Punjab," he warned.
The drill also tested how quickly the army can act, how well it can use land, air, and cyber power together, and how fast the different forces can coordinate with each other. A senior, yet unnamed, army officer told TOI, "The drill tested operational agility, multi-domain capabilities and real-time coordination across land, air and cyber domains."
Adding expert insight, retired Lieutenant General Mohan Bhandari, who was a deputy director general of military operations during the Kargil war, shared that these exercises are crucial for Punjab’s defense. "Pakistan has constructed numerous canals in Punjab to act as barriers against our armoured and mechanised units. Exercises simulating such conditions enhance operational efficiency because ultimate victory comes under the boots of infantry on enemy land," he explained.
So, the Ram Prahar is not just a drill; it’s a powerful message that the Indian Army is battle-ready, alert, and can launch fierce operations whenever needed. Watch this space for more thrilling defense news!
