May 9, 2025

Police in Panaji apprehended the second key accused, Nancy King’ori, in a human trafficking case involving a prostitution racket with foreign nationals. The arrest was made in connection with a complaint lodged by a Kenyan victim who accused King’ori of forcing her into prostitution and living off her earnings. The victim was promised a job in the hotel industry but upon arriving in India, her passport was taken away, and she was forced into prostitution. King’ori provided the victim with a UPI ID/scanner to accept payments. The account linked to the UPI ID/scanner was registered in the name of Zohair Ahmed Khalidi, a resident of Gulbarga, Karnataka. A team was dispatched to Bengaluru, where Khalidi was apprehended, suspecting his involvement in a gang trafficking foreigners in India.
