The Karnataka Lokayukta raided the offices of the Special Tahsildar, South Taluk, and the Assistant Commissioner, South sub-division, following a bribery complaint. Rekha, a resident of Kengeri, claimed she bought 2 acres and 20 guntas of land legally but officials demanded a bribe to transfer the khata in her name. She refused to pay, and her application was stalled with officials saying original land documents were missing. Rekha alleged that khatas for the same land survey number were transferred to others, but hers was denied due to her refusal to bribe. Acting on this, the Lokayukta issued search warrants. The police searched the offices and recovered the land file for Survey No. 121, which was seized for further investigation. Lokayukta officials said the probe is ongoing and that more irregularities may emerge from the Tahsildar’s office.
