Varghese Chakkalakkal, Archbishop of Calicut, called on students to respect the Constitution with the same devotion shown to holy texts such as the Bible, the Bhagavad Gita, and the Koran. Speaking at the end of the golden jubilee celebrations of Presentation Higher Secondary School in Perinthalmanna, he encouraged teachers to focus on nurturing constitutional values in their students. "This is a time when moral decay in society is increasing. Teachers should pay attention to training children in small ways to cultivate values. Only then can a peaceful nation be built and democracy be upheld," said Archbishop Chakkalakkal. He added, "Our children should study the Constitution like the way they study the Bible, the Bhagavad Gita or the Koran. Only then will Jose, Rama and Sulaiman be able to love each other and live together in harmony." The valedictory session was inaugurated by District Collector V.R. Vinod. Other speakers included Mother Superior General Jissa Maria, Provincial Superior Sr. Jibi Joseph, Additional District Magistrate N.M. Meharali, Trade Commissioner Vijay Anand, Principal Sr. Jesmy Thomas, and Headmistress Sr. Princy Jose.
