West Bengal Commission Serves Notice to BJP's Amit Malviya Over Post on Minor Girl's Death

June 30, 2025

The West Bengal Commission for Protection of Child Rights has issued a show cause letter to Amit Malviya, the head of the BJP's national IT cell, for sharing a post about the unnatural death of a minor girl in South 24 Parganas. Malviya's post, accusing CM Mamata Banerjee and suggesting a communal angle to the incident, faced criticism. The Commission intervened due to the minor's identification risk despite blurring. Allegations were dismissed by the police, clarifying the cause of death as poison consumption with no sexual assault. Malviya has not responded to the notice, while the BJP assures responses in due time.
