A Nigerian woman, Sarah Kumama alias Happiness alias Blessings, was arrested in Chennai for her involvement in a cocaine peddling network. The Choolaimedu Police, along with the Anti-Narcotic Intelligence Unit and Greater Chennai Police, made a significant breakthrough in the case. The arrest came after a tip-off on drug trafficking that led to the apprehension of several individuals connected to the cartel. Among the arrested were Fayas Ahamed (31) of Royapettah and S. Chandrasekar (25) of Koyambedu on January 21. Subsequent investigations revealed a larger network involving a total of 24 individuals, including two Nigerian nationals. One of them was Sarah Kumama, who was arrested in Bengaluru and brought to Chennai. She was remanded to judicial custody after the arrest. The police confiscated two mobile phones from her as part of the investigation. This arrest comes in the wake of recent crackdowns on drug-related activities in Chennai. Notably, Tamil actors Srikanth and Krishna were also arrested in connection with the same drug cartel. The authorities are conducting further investigations to dismantle the network and bring all involved individuals to justice.
